Happy New Year!

Hello, lovely people!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas. Now, as 2015 draws to a close, I want to wish you all a happy new year! I hope 2015 has been wonderful for you, and that 2016 will be even better!

Now, the part of these posts that everyone dreads…. New year’s resolutions!

Mine are:

  1. Get back into blogging.
I know I’ve been neglecting my blog lately, and I put so much effort into getting it started, so it’s been making me a bit sad. So, in the new year I vow to get back into blogging. I’m even considering making a sort of schedule so I know what I’m posting when, which may help!
  2. Spend less time worrying / Accept that things happen for a reason.
I’ve never been very good at accepting change, so this year has been really hard for me. Lots has changed and I’ve struggled to come to terms with it all. As a result, I’ve decided to defer my PGCE for a year. It was a hard decision, but I feel it’s the right descision. There’s lots going on with my life (for example, my grandma is still quite poorly) and I’ve had so much on my mind that I’ve been making myself ill trying to cope with everything, along with trying to complete my PGCE.

I may come up with more as the year goes on, and I shall update my post if I do.
So, what are yours?
Again, I’d like to wish you all a very happy new year and I hope 2016 is amazing!

2015 in review

Here’s my 2015 review. I’m over the moon with these stats! Thank you for making this possible 🙂 Happy New Year!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,700 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Tag – Season’s Greetings!

Minions Christmas

I was nominated for this tag by the wonderful Alex Raphael. Thank you, Alex!

If you don’t know Alex’s blog, I’d strongly suggest you take a look! His posts are always interesting and insightful! Definitely worth a read!

So, here are my answers…

1) FAVORITE BOOK/S TO READ DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON?
My favourite Christmas story is ‘T’was the Night Before Christmas’ and I love reading it at Christmas!

2) TELL US YOUR BEST CHRISTMAS MEMORY.
Hmm, this is difficult. I have lots of good memories of the family gathering together at Grandma’s and having a big boxing day dinner. We eat until we feel sick, then we wait a while and eat some more! We always play a board  game or a card game. It’s just lovely to have everyone together!

3) FAVORITE FICTIONAL WINTER WONDERLAND?

4). SNOW MAN OR SNOW ANGEL?
Snow angel!

5) WHAT IS YOUR ALL TIME FAVORITE CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY MOVIE?
I always forget how great Christmas movies are until they start showing them in December! I do love The Grinch and I do love Elf, but there are some wonderful Christmas movies out there!

6) IF YOU COULD SPEND THE HOLIDAYS ANYWHERE (FICTION OR NON-FICTION,) WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
New York. I always see it in films and it looks so magical, especially at Christmas. I’d love to experience that!

7) WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET UNDER THE MISTLETOE?
My wonderful fiancé, Jon. He is absolutely amazing and I don’t know what I’d do without him!

8) WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOT HOLIDAY DRINK?
A nice hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows!

9) WHAT AUTHOR FROM ANY TIME WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE A CUP WITH?
JRR Tolkien. I found out during my degree that Tolkien could speak fluent Anglo-Saxon! How fascinating is that?

10) WHAT BOOK ARE YOU HOPING SANTA WILL BRING YOU?
I’m not sure I’ve asked for any books this year! I’m so behind on the books that I have on my Kindle that I thought it would be a bit of  a waste to ask for more books.  If there is a book I really want. my birthday is in February!

I’m tagging…

Anyone that wants to do this! It’s such a fun tag 🙂 If you decide to do this tag, please comment underneath so I can see your answers! 🙂

Thanks again to Alex Raphael for tagging me!

Happy Holidays!

Original Questions:

🌌 If you could meet anyone from throughout history, who and why?

Ooo, this is hard! There are so many people I would love to meet! I think right now i’d have to say Oscar Wilde. He would be so interesting to talk to!

🌌 What is your favourite book and why?

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It was the first book to really make me feel for the characters.

🌌 Who is your favourite fiction character from any medium and why?

Meredith from Grey’s Anatomy. She’s been through do much and she’s still fighting!

Alyssa’s Questions:

🌌 1.  Name a recent read you can’t get out of your head.

Fuel to the Fire by David Staniforth.

🌌 2. What favorite friendship group would you like to be apart of?

The Sisterhoodkt be  of the Traveling Pants! 100%!

🌌 3.  What book or series would you recommend to non-readers?

Hmm. This is tricky as it would depend on their age and interests. I think I would say the Alex Ryder series. They’re easy to read and easy to follow, plus a lot happens.

My Questions:

🌌 What book do you wish you could enter into and why?

🌌 If you could go back to any time period, where would you go and why?

🌌 If you could pick one place in the world to spend a day reading, where would it be and why?

Tag – Buddy the Elf!

buddytheelf

I’ve just seen this over at Under Review  and knew I had to do it. Especially as I’m sat here watching Elf!

‘Treat everyday like Christmas!’ What’s one book you love to read no matter the time of year?

Hmm. I don’t tend to re-read books, if I’m honest! Does that make me a bad book lover? I can read any book at any time of year, though. I’ve been known to read Christmas books in the summer before! I just read what I feel like reading.

Buddy’s spaghetti. Who are two book characters who are complete opposites but you think they go so well together?
Davran and Ronyn from the Fuel to the Fire trilogy by David Staniforth.
The clause-o-meter.

What’s one book you have 100% fan girl spirit about?

I’m sure this is all pretty obvious to you all, but To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Shame I can’t say the same for Go Set a Watchman 😦

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.’ What recent read do you love so much you just want to sing it’s praises from the rooftops?

’Son of a Nutcracker!’ What book had an ending you didn’t like?

Any book by Jane Austen! Why can she never finish a book?!

He must be a south pole elf!’ What book character did you make a bad first impression with by mispronouncing their name?

Professor McGonagall from the Harry Potter series. Though I mispronounce names quite frequently!

Santa Claus is coming to TOWN!’ What’s the number one book on your Christmas on wish list?

Dream a little Christmas Dream by Giovanna Fletcher!

Who do you tag?

Anyone that wants to join in! Merry Christmas!

All I want for Christmas is youuuuu!

So, its less than a week until Christmas! Who’s excited?! I know I am. Tomorrow I will be going home to see my family!

As I’m sitting here wrapping presents, I thought id ask what you’re all looking forward to this Christmas?

I’m looking forward to seeing my family and the dinner. There aren’t many presents I want, though I’m hoping for an amazon voucher to help with all the books that will be released in the new year!

Is there a particular present you want? Are you looking forward to seeing family? Are you looking forward to the Christmas dinner? I’d love to know!
